I used to maintain an Outlook database of my industry contacts, but it got out of control. Sound familiar? Join LinkedIn. It’s the industry contact database that maintains itself.
Ready for the hack? There are probably former employers you do not want in your LinkedIn profile. Yet you want to connect with the people who work(ed) there. Just momentarily add the company to your profile, search for your friends and invite them to connect. Then delete the company from your profile before anyone sees it.
Abusing this hack will probably get you kicked off LinkedIn, as it should. So only invite people who would welcome an invitation from you.
Still, leave as many companies as possible in your profile, so your former colleagues can find you in the future.
